PGY-2 : Emergency Medicine The first time a resident rotates on EM is a dedicated 2-week Orientation to the ED, including use of their EMR system. Simple procedures, such as Laceration repair, Placement of Lines, Foleys and NGs, and ACLS skills are expected. Once the resident has been certified in these procedures, they are periodically scheduled to complete 12-hour shifts throughout their PGY-2 and PGY-3 years. Each resident is required to have a minimum of sixteen shifts completed by the time they graduate. Many residents elect to do more for additional experience. All residents are certified in ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation. Additional certification in ATLS and PALS is available for interested residents. |
