Curriculum

Our five-year program sponsors three PGY resident positions per year. Our PGY-1-year includes many of the traditional rotations of a rotating internship and includes six months of orthopedic surgery.

After the PGY-1 year, VOSR residents enter into their formal orthopedic training with 3 month surgical rotations in the various orthopedic and surgical specialties, such as General Orthopedics, Trauma, Spine, Joint, and Hand. We also include a 6 month pediatric orthopedic experience which meets the requirements for certification by the AOBOS and ABOS.

The Clinical curriculum is augmented by a rigorous didactic schedule which includes weekly x-ray conferences and journal clubs as well as specialty specific lectures. We also have quarterly grand rounds, frequent visiting professors and many lab opportunities for anatomic dissection and surgical skills training.
